Provide specific ways in which you, as a leader, will support your team to help them avoid getting burned out.

I need them in question/ answer format.

Each part has to be at least 500 words.

Sandberg examines in Chapter 9 of Lean In the “myth of doing it all” and focuses on the guilt or anxiety that mothers who work outside the home often feel about their choices. This drive to try to do it all can cause burnout not only for women, but also men. In this discussion, you will contemplate ways to help yourself and your team to avoid burnout. This will increase productivity and job satisfaction, and will make you a better leader and your team more effective. As Sandberg argues, the “best way to make room for both life and career is to make choices deliberately—to set limits and stick to them.”

Respond to the following:

  • Provide specific ways in which you, as a leader, will support your team to help them avoid getting burned out. For example, share what kind of team environment you will create and what workplace policies you will champion.
  • Now that you have considered how to prevent your employees from getting burned out, how will you ensure that you do not get burned out yourself? What policies will you take advantage of yourself?

M5D2: Discrimination in the Workplace Part 2

In 2011, New York University (NYU) reached a $210,000 settlement in a case filed by a mailroom employee from Ghana alleging racial and national origin harassment. According to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) report, the mailroom supervisor in NYU’s library regularly addressed this employee with slurs such as “monkey” and “gorilla” and insults such as “go back to your cage” and “do you want a banana?” The supervisor also called the employee’s accented English “gibberish” and expressed hostility to African immigrants. Although the employee made several formal complaints, NYU took months to investigate and then took virtually no corrective action, even after being alerted that the supervisor had retaliated against the employee for filing complaints.

Although NYU is a private university, this lawsuit could have come out of any number of public institutions. Reflect on the ethical, legal, and leadership aspects involved in this case.

Respond to the following:

  • Share your overall reaction to this case.
  • From ethical and legal standpoints, how should University leadership have handled this situation?
  • What does “effective leadership” require in dealing with this type of situation?

Prioritize the top three (3) benefits that an HRIS will offer the business, and explain your position. Next, examine the effect of automation on creating a more efficient process for the HR function chosen in Phase I.

Assignment 2: Phase II – Selecting an HRIS Application

Due Week 5 and worth 220 points

Now that you assessed the business, identified some of the inefficient HR related processes plaguing Gladwell Grocery Stores, and pinpointed a few possible solutions, it is time to choose an HRIS application that will suit the business. In this assignment, you will consider the HR function you chose in Phase I, and recommend the type of HRIS that you believe would be the most efficient for addressing this function.

To prepare for this assignment, review the Gladwell Grocery Stores case scenario, and then research potential HRIS types and HRIS vendors that may suit the needs for Mr. Bell and Gladwell Grocery Stores.

Write a three to four (3-4) page paper in which you:

• write to an identified audience o If your white paper is an advocacy white paper, it might have a very general audience. For example, a white paper arguing against the Common Core Standards in schools would be an advocacy white paper to a very general audience – parents, teachers, administrators, and others.

Your last writing assignment will be a white paper.

In preparing for this assignment, you will want to review the Purdue OWL video, “White Papers: An Introduction to the Genre and Its Expectations.”

You may take any of the following approaches:

• a white paper to an internal audience

• a white paper to an external audience

• a company white paper to potential customers. This is an example of a white paper to an external audience, but it features different rhetorical considerations than the typical white paper written to an external audience does.

All three options are discussed in the video mentioned above.

Strategies to Consider for this Assignment:

Make sure that you follow these guideline:

• have a focused topic

• write to an identified audience o If your white paper is an advocacy white paper, it might have a very general audience. For example, a white paper arguing against the Common Core Standards in schools would be an advocacy white paper to a very general audience – parents, teachers, administrators, and others.

• integrate thorough research

• make sure that you do not tell the audience what action it should take. Rather, offer background information that the audience can use to make a decision. The Purdue OWL video mentions this principle.

Please include the following sections in your white paper:

• Executive Summary

• Introduction

• Previous Approaches

• New Findings

• Conclusion

• References

In the Executive Summary, summarize your research and your purpose. The executive summary should be a stand-alone document. It should be written in such a way that a busy executive could read the executive summary and know exactly what the paper is about without reading the rest of the paper.

In the Introduction, you lay the groundwork for your readers for the details that will be introduced in the white paper. If you need to define any terms, you will do so here. You might share an anedote or illustration to describe why this topic is important.

In the Previous Approaches section, you will describe the approaches or strategies that have been previously used or are currently used on the topic. For example, if your white paper is being written to a high school principal about why the school needs a learning management system (LMS), you might describe what system is now being used to post documents to students, to collect student work, etc.

In the New Findings section, you present perhaps the most important information in the paper. In this section, you will describe the findings of your research and related these findings to the purpose of your report. You will not only provide data and research, but you will also explain the data and research and why it is relevant to your report’s topic.

For example, if your white paper is being written to a high school principal about why the school needs a learning management system (LMS), you might review what studies on the use of an LMS in other high schools have shown. Perhaps the studies show that students are less likely to submit a paper late, that teachers are more prompt with the posting of grades, that parents are able to view their children’s progress more effectively, etc. Overall, you make the findings of your data clear so that your reader understands what findings are relevant.

In the Conclusion section, you review what your research shows in light of the previous approaches used. You will not tell the audience what steps to take next. However, you will summarize what your findings articulate.

In the References, you will list your sources that you cited in the paper. You will list them in APA format. Please note that the lectures on white papers that you have viewed and examples of white papers you may have read may not have used APA format. You will be using APA format in this assignment.

You are required to have at least five sources for your paper. In addition, at least one of them is to have been acquired through UMUC Library OneSearch.

The following websites and documents offer additional guidance in writing a white paper:

• Chapter 1, “A Primer on White Papers,” by Michael Stelzner

• “The Art of the White Paper,” by Manuel Gordon and Gordon Graham

• “Guidelines for Writing White Papers” from Wartham Associates

• “What is a White Paper?” by Mak Pandit

Length of your paper:

Your white paper should be 1400-2000 words in length. Again, you are required to use at least five sources, with at least one of them being acquired through UMUC Library OneSearch.

Graphics:

Your white paper should incorporate at least two graphics. The graphic can be a table or chart showing some research findings or an image that is relevant to the topic of the white paper.

To see examples of graphics used in white papers, see the Purdue OWL video, “White Papers: An Introduction to the Genre and Its Expectations,” at the 3:27 mark, at the 5:29 mark, at the 6:58 mark, at the 7:01 mark, at the 7:11 mark, at the 7:43 mark, at the 7:58 mark,

Due Date:

Your instructor will notify you of the due date. You will write a first draft, your instructor will comment on the first draft, and you will submit a second draft using the comments as your guide

Discuss which quality systems the organization employs today.   Discuss the organization’s readiness to incorporate the selected project.

Overview

As you have already learned in your Discussion Board this week,  quality assurance in any project might be the most important but  overlooked aspect of a project. Lack of quality management, however, can  cause an entire project to fail if the final project deliverables do  not meet customer expectations and standards. Implementing quality  assurance throughout the project minimizes the risk of nonacceptance of  project deliverables by the customer.

In this course, you are  asked to develop a Quality Management Integration Plan (Key Assignment)  that allows you to select and integrate quality management tools,  models, and techniques in the overall performance of the project. You  will select a project that you may have developed in a previous class or  a known project in an organization.

Throughout this course, you will be working on developing several  components of your final Key Assignment. Additional information and the  deliverables for each Individual Project will be provided in the  assignment description for this project.

In this first Individual Project, you will submit a proposal of your  project to your instructor; develop a shell document of all sections of  the Key Assignment, complete the first three sections of the Plan. The  combined Individual Project (IP) assignments will be your final Key  Assignment deliverable.

Project Selection

The first step will be to select a project that you develop a Quality  Management Integration Plan for. This project will be used as the basis  for each of the assignments throughout the course and should conform to  the following guidelines:

  1. Nontrivial: The selected project candidate should reflect a real-life project.
  2. Domain knowledge: You will be applying  knowledge of this project to address assignments related to quality  management, integration, and performance.

Select a project that fits these requirements, and submit your  proposal to your instructor before proceeding further with the  assignments in the course. Approval should be sought within the first  few days of the course. Your instructor will tell you how to submit this  proposal and what notification will be given for project approval.

Assignment

Your first task in this process will be to select a project to use as  the basis of your Key Assignment. You will also create the shell  document for the final project Key Assignment document deliverable that  you will be working on throughout the course. As you proceed through  each project phase, you will add content to each section of the final  document to progressively complete the final project delivery, which is  the Quality Management Integration Plan.

The project deliverables are as follows:

  • Submit the project proposal to your instructor for approval.
  • Quality Management Integration Plan
    • Use Word
    • Title page
      • Course number and name
      • Project name
      • Your name
      • Date
    • Table of Contents (TOC)
      • Use an autogenerated TOC.
      • This should be on a separate page.
      • This should be a maximum of 3 levels deep.
      • Be sure to update the fields of the TOC so that it is up-to-date before submitting your project.
    • Section Headings (create each heading on a new page with “TBD” as content, except for Week 1)
      • Plan Quality Management Week 1: Project Outline
      • Plan Quality Management Week 1: Organizational Readiness for Quality Management
      • Plan Quality Management Week 1: Quality Systems Analysis
      • Perform Quality Management Week 2: Quality Dimensions and Criteria
      • Perform Quality Assurance Week 3: Quality Process Improvement Tools and Techniques
      • Control Quality Week 4: Quality Performance Monitoring and Control
      • Control Quality Week 5: Management’s Role in Quality Management
      • Control Quality Week 5: Quality Performance Communication Plan

Create the following sections for Week 1:

  • Project Outline
    • Include a brief description of the project.
    • Describe the overall project deliverables.
    • Material can be taken from the approved proposal that you  submitted to the instructor. This may serve as the draft for the  proposal.
    • Be sure that this project is approved by the instructor.
  • Organizational Readiness for Quality Management
    • Discuss which quality systems the organization employs today.
    • Discuss the organization’s readiness to incorporate the selected project.
    • Include additional support that might be required to incorporate quality management (e.g., a knowledgeable quality champion).
  • Quality Systems Analysis
    • Discuss the pros and cons of at least 3 quality systems (e.g., ISO  9000, Six Sigma, plan-do-check-act or plan-do-study-act, Capability  Maturity Model Integration [CMMI], organizational project management  maturity model [OPM3®], Malcolm Baldrige).
    • Identify which one or combination is most appropriate for this project, and discuss why.
  • Name the document “LastName_FirstName_MPM357_IP1.doc.”

Explain at least 4 major environmental variables which have affected the organic food market.

Many retail stores began to focuses on selling organic foods starting in the late 1990s. The market for organics food really grew after Whole Foods started to expand. Whole Foods began, as a small Austin based retailer that focused on selling natural products in the 1980s. It gradually developed and spread through the purchase of other smaller organic food retailers. Now, it is a nationally known retailer with a strong focus on selling natural foods to an upscale target market.  Wholes Foods has successfully positioned itself as the premium organic retailer based on its commitment to offering superior products. It created many innovated ways to promote the concept of organic, natural foods to young professionals and eco-friendly consumers. As the middle class grew, the market demand for organic foods has increased.

Organic products are typically priced higher than regular products in retail stores. Sometimes the price differences may be 30 to 40% higher depending on the retailer. Organic fruits and vegetables are grown with little or no pesticides which can be harmful to people and the environment. Meats and dairy products are sourced from farms that follow strict guidelines that limit the use of growth hormones on animals, and pesticides on animal feed. Because of the way that the products are produced, organic and natural products result in higher production costs.

The government has developed guidelines which determine whether a product can be labeled as organic. Companies selling these products must follow these guidelines or face negative consequences from the government or consumer groups.

The success in the organic market has not gone unnoticed as larger retail chains have begun to offer extensive organic product lines to appeal to the same customers. HEB (major TX retailer) and Kroger now have wide-ranging organic product lines in their produce, selected meat and general grocery sections. For HEB and Kroger, the organic products are just alternative product lines because the regular nonorganic products can be purchased at a lower price. Their expansion into organic products is an example of retailers responding to market changes.

Explain at least 4 major environmental variables which have affected the organic food market.
