Hold onto your surveys, as you will need them for your lab. You will enter data into SPSS  and analyze it with your lab instructor.

Stimulus Materials – Experimental Paper – Summer 2013 – 10 Points

Student Instructions:

1). For your experimental study this summer, you are the researcher, and you will collect data

from three participants (the participants must not have taken research methods in the Spring

semester, 2013 or have taken research methods in the Fall semester, 2012). Each survey has three

parts. In Part I, they will provide demographic information. In Part II, they will solve anagrams

(rearranging the letters in an old word to form a new word). In Part III, they will provide

feedback regarding their perceptions of the anagram task.

A). Your first task is to approach three different participants (not all at the same time!). Ask

them if they are willing to participate in a short study for your psychology research methods

class. Tell them the survey measures their ability to rearrange words in an anagram task, and

that they do not have to participate. They will receive no benefit from participating, but they

will help you earn points in your methods class. Get their informed consent verbally.

B). Have them read the instructions for the study on the top of the first survey page. Answer

any questions they may have

C). Have them complete Part One. For this portion of the survey, participants will provide

their demographic data. If they are uncomfortable giving some of this information, they do

not have to provide it.

D). Make sure they read the instructions at the bottom of the first page. It is important that

they know that most participants complete the anagram task within 30 seconds. Let them

know that you will time them to see how long it takes them to solve the anagrams. Use a

watch (or the stopwatch on your i-phone!) to measure their time in Part Two.

E). The anagram task is in Part Two. One version of this task is very easy (It has the words

LEMON, TAB, and CINERAMA, which can easily be rearranged to spell MELON, BAT,

and AMERICAN. You will see the letter E at the bottom of the page, designating the easy

condition). Another version of this task is moderately difficult (It has the letter M on the

bottom of the page, and has the words LEMON, WHIRL, and CINERAMA. Both LEMON

and CINERAMA can be rearranged, but WHIRL is impossible to rearrange). Finally, the

hard version (denoted H) has the words WHIRL, ORANGE, and CINERAMA, and only the

last word can be rearranged. As you time participants, you may see those in the moderate and

hard group having a hard time. Keep timing until they tell you they give up. For all three

conditions, write down how long it took them to complete the task on the bottom of the page.

NOTE: This study has one independent variable (Task Difficulty) with three levels (easy,

moderate, and hard). We may also look at gender as a second independent variable with

two levels (male or female), which would make it a 3 X 2 design. Your dependent

variables are in Part Two is a). whether they complete the third word (CINERAMA)

successfully, and b). their time to complete the task. Make sure to write down their time

(in seconds).

F). Finally, have them complete Part Three. Our remaining four dependent variables are in

this section (ease of the task personally, ease for others, frustration, and ideas about whether

it can be done in 30 seconds). Once they complete this part, debrief them on the study design.

For this debriefing, tell them we are conducting a study on learned helplessness. Tell them

that the word CINERAMA appears on all versions of the survey, and can be turned into

AMERICAN, but that some people got words that cannot be rearranged (like WHIRL and

ORANGE). Most will probably find this experiment funny, but let them know that the study

in no way says anything about their intelligence level with regard to anagrams.

Tell them your two hypotheses:

First, we predict that people who are in the hard condition will be less likely to correctly

rearrange the word CINERAMA to spell AMERICAN. Those in the moderate group

should be able to spell AMERICAN a little more frequently (but not always), while

almost all of the people in the easy group should be able to spell AMERICAN. This is

because those in the hard and moderate groups are impacted by learned helplessness –

failure on previous words will make them give up on later words, even if those later

words can be solved.

Second, we predict that people in the hard condition will find the task hard personally,

think most other people will find the task to be hard, will be most frustrated with the task,

and will think almost no one will be able to complete it within 30 seconds. Those in the

easy condition should fall at the other extreme: find it easy personally, think others will

find it easy, will show little frustration, and will expect most people to complete the task

within 30 seconds. Those in the moderate group should fall between those two groups.

2). Hold onto your surveys, as you will need them for your lab. You will enter data into SPSS

and analyze it with your lab instructor. Each student is responsible for collecting data from three

participants (one participant for each level of Task Difficulty – easy, moderate, and hard).

However, you will analyze data by combining your survey with the data from other students in

your lab, so your final sample will include roughly 144 participants.

Prior to beginning work on this discussion, read the required article by Appel and Kim-Appel (2010) and watch the Episode: 118 – Inside Out: An Introduction to Psychology – The Enduring Self video excerpt, which is accessible through the ProQuest database in the Ashford University Library.  For this discussion, you will build on your experience in the “Personality Theory at Work in Popular Media” discussion from last week by re-examining the major theoretical approaches studied in the class (psychodynamic, behavioral, learning, trait and type, and humanistic) within the realm of social networks. In addition to these five domains, you will also consider the theoretical approaches related to complex models. Your initial post will be presented in a video format. Please see the instructions for this below.

To begin, choose a social networking site (this may be Facebook  (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.LinkedIn (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. or Twitter  (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.). Choose someone you know in your personal or professional life who has a profile on one of these three social networking services. It is important in your posts and responses not to disclose identifying information about your subject. You may choose a pseudonym by which to identify your selected subject in this discussion.

Choose one of the five domains (psychodynamic, behavioral, learning, trait and type, and humanistic) and create a personality profile based on your current knowledge of your chosen subject using the framework of your selected domain. Then, review the online profile or feed of your subject in your chosen social networking site and create a personality profile based on the information your subject has published on the site using the framework of your selected domain.

Compare and contrast the two different personality profiles. Provide an analysis of any differences between the two profiles. Select one of the models with the complex models domain. Explain the reasoning for the differences between the real world and online personality of your subject using your selected model within the complex models domains. Research a minimum of two articles on your chosen model and use these to support your statements. Evaluate and describe the usefulness of complex models as they pertain to this exercise in personality theory.

Due 7/30/18

A psychological assessment report is created by psychology professionals to inform groups or individuals of the assessments appropriate for their current needs. This type of report also includes a summary of the services provided to these groups or individuals. This evaluation is used by the various entities to assess basic needs, competencies, preferences, skills, traits, dispositions, and abilities for different individuals in a variety of settings.

Psychological reports vary widely depending on the psychology professional creating it and the needs being assessed. Some of the psychology professionals who create this type of report include counselors, school psychologists, consultants, psychometricians, or psychological examiners. This type of report may be as short as three pages or as long as 20 or more pages depending on the needs of the stakeholders. Many reports include tables of scores that are attached either in an appendix or integrated into the report. Despite the many variations in assessment reports, most include the same essential information and headings.

Students will choose one of the personality assessment scenarios from the discussions in Weeks Two, Three, or Four to use as the basis of this psychological assessment report. Once the scenario has been chosen, students will research a minimum of four peer-reviewed articles that relate to and support the content of the scenario and the report as outlined below. The following headings and content must be included in the report:

The Reason for Referral and Background Information
In this section, students will describe the reasons for the referral and relevant background information for all stakeholders from the chosen personality assessment scenario.

Assessment Procedures
In this section, students will include a bulleted list of the test(s) and other assessment measures recommended for the evaluation of the given scenario. In addition to the assessment(s) initially provided in the personality assessment scenario from the weekly discussion, students must include at least three other measures appropriate for the scenario.

Immediately following the bulleted list, students will include a narrative description of the assessments. In the narrative, students will examine and comment on the major theoretical approaches, research methods, and assessment instruments appropriate for the situation and stakeholder needs. In order to defend the choice of recommended assessments, students will evaluate current research in the field of personality theories and provide examples of how these assessments are valid for use in the chosen scenario. For additional support of these recommended assessment measures, students will evaluate the standardization, reliability and validity, and cultural considerations present in these personality assessments that make them the most appropriate tools for the given scenario. Students will conclude the narrative by assessing types of personality measurements and research designs often used in scenarios like the one chosen and providing a rationale for why some of those assessments were not included.

General Observations and Impressions
In this section, students will describe general observations of the client during the assessment period provided in the chosen personality assessment scenario and explain whether the client’s behavior might have had a negative impact on the test results. Students will analyze and comment on how the APA’s Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct affected the implementation of the personality assessment during the initial process. Based on the observations and analysis, students will assess the validity of the evaluation and make a recommendation for or against the necessity for additional testing.

Test Results and Interpretations
In this section, students will analyze the results of the assessment provided in the chosen personality assessment scenario. Based on the score, students will interpret the personality factors (conscientiousness, openness, emotional stability, introversion, extroversion, work drive, self-directedness, etc.) that are present.

Note: Typically, this section reports test results and is the longest section of a psychological assessment report because the results of all the tests administered are analyzed and reported. Some psychologists report all test results individually, while others may integrate only a portion of the test results. However, in this report, only the assessment presented in the chosen personality assessment scenario will be included.

Summary and Recommendations
In this section, students will summarize the test results.  They will provide a complete explanation for the evaluation, the procedures and measures used, and the results and include any recommendations translating the evaluation into strategies and suggestions to support the client. Finally, students will provide any conclusions and diagnostic impressions drawn from the previous sections of the report.

Submit your work as an MS PowerPoint (.ppt) presentation. The body of your presentation should include at least 10-12 presentation slides, in addition to a title slide, introduction slide(s), and references at the end of your presentation for a total of no more than 15 slides.

Topic: Resolving conflict and dealing with difficult people in the workplace

The final project requires you to develop a PowerPoint slide presentation for use as a training tool with line managers and supervisors on how to resolve conflict, as well as deal with difficult people, in the workplace. Many organizations hold such training programs at least annually with line management as a refresher in order to ensure that employee conflicts and aggressive behavior are dealt with expeditiously, assertively,

Instructions: and proactively, in order to prevent such behavior from taking place at work. As such, your presentation should briefly outline (i.e., no more than 2-3 slides) the negative issues associated with allowing conflict in the workplace to go unchecked, and focus the majority of your presentation (i.e., 8-10 slides) on the positive measures, programs, and processes that organizations can/do adopt to mitigate conflict and negative employee behavior in the workplace.

Many organizations have extended conflict resolution programs beyond Human Resource Development (HRD) programs and processes by changing human resource management (HRM) policies and programs to meet the special needs of the new workforce. A growing number of organizations are holding managers formally accountable for resolving employee concerns and/or grievance internally, within their departments. For example, incorporating such goals and objectives into their performance evaluation process. As the HRD manager for your organization, what new training programs and processes would you propose to senior management to develop effective training and conflict resolutions methods that will ultimately lead to a climate in which all employees can thrive within the organization and contribute to its success?

Submission Instructions: Submit your work as an MS PowerPoint (.ppt) presentation. The body of your presentation should include at least 10-12 presentation slides, in addition to a title slide, introduction slide(s), and references at the end of your presentation for a total of no more than 15 slides.

PowerPoint presentations longer than 15 slides will not be read after the 15th slide. As such, please ensure that all assignment questions are answered within the first 15 slides, as your grade will be based on the first 15 slides received.

Your grade will be based on your ability to follow assignment instructions, research conducted, the effectiveness of the training proposed, critical thinking and analysis, and APA format.

Please support your ideas, arguments, and opinions with independent research, include at least three (3) supporting references or sources (do NOT use encyclopedias,  Wikipedia, unknown, undated, or anonymous sources, such as brief articles from websites), include a reference section (i.e., 1-2 slides), and cite all sources properly in the text of each slide, in accordance with the 6th edition of the APA manual, Chapters 6 & 7.

Review this week’s DVD program, “Application of Psychological Research – Court Settings.”Think about how psychological research can guide the practice of forensic psychology relative to various issues presented in court settings.

Applying Research in Court Settings

Psychologists have interacted with the courts much longer than forensic psychology has been recognized as a field. Indeed, the usage of psychological expertise and data by the court and legal systems is quite broad. Attorneys, for example, hire psychologists and forensic psychology professionals as consultants to assist in the selection of a jury suitable to their client’s case. Expert testimony from psychologists and forensic psychology professionals has been proffered on many subjects to help jurors better understand technical and scientific data. Psychological research on how a jury works and how jurors make decisions has shed new light on the legal process. Even family courts rely on psychological data and expert testimony to aid in the awarding of child custody during divorce proceedings. Reading research studies related to court settings will familiarize you with a wide variety of empirical data used in the court system.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review this week’s DVD program, “Application of Psychological Research – Court Settings.”Think about how psychological research can guide the practice of forensic psychology relative to various issues presented in court settings.
  • Review the article, “The Effects of Pretrial Publicity on Juror Verdicts: A Meta-Analytic Review.” Pay particular attention to the studies reviewed in this meta-analysis and think about how a forensic psychology professional working in a court setting might use this information.
  • Review the article, “On the ‘ General Acceptance’ of Eyewitness Testimony Research: A New Survey of Experts.” Focus on how experts in the field of psychology evaluated eye witness testimony in a court setting. Consider how the results reported from the questionnaire given to the expert psychologists might be used or applied by professionals working in a court setting.
  • Using the Walden Library, identify a psychological research study that could be used in a court setting by a forensic psychologist or forensic psychology professional.
  • Review the methods and results sections of this research study and think about how this study might be used by forensic psychologists or forensic psychology professionals working in a court setting.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post  a brief description of the research study you selected. Then, explain the parts of this study that you believe might be important for a forensic psychology professional working in a court setting. Finally, explain how a forensic psychology professional might use the results of the study in a court setting.

Hello Class,

Introduction (do not actually create a section heading called Introduction as that is assumed): provide a short paragraph introducing the reader to the main topic and the key concepts that will be addressed in the literature review assignment (Weeks 5-7).

Theme One (create a new section heading based on your topic theme): describe in 2-3 words the first main topic of your literature review. Next, briefly (4-5 sentences) describe the information you will discuss in your Literature Review paper and cite articles that will support your discussion.

EXAMPLE:  imagine a student’s topic is “Writing a Literature Review Strategies for Psychology Graduate Students”.  The first section might be “Annotated Bibliography and Outline” because that is a main theme found in the literature (DO NOT USE THIS THEME FOR YOUR PAPER).  The section description could describe how this section will define and explain the concepts (Smith, 2001; Mohammed, 2015).  The section description could also include, for example, how Section One will address how an outline and an annotated bibliography is created and formatted (Chang, 2017; Rodriguez, 2014; Conner, 2000).

Theme Two (create a new section heading based on your topic theme): describe in 2-3 words the second main topic of your literature review. Next, briefly (4-5 sentences) describe the information you will discuss in your LIterature Review paper and cite articles that will support your discussion.

Theme Three if you find one

Conclusion (a discussion and/or Conclusion section is an appropriate section heading): summarize the discussion and add comments addressing how the outline and subsequent literature review can still be improved.  Perhaps even ask for help by addressing specific questions or concerns.  For example, students might state “one of the challenges with this outline is there appears to be limited research on the topic of creating an annotated bibliography”.  This comment could help other students and the Professor provide the student with useful feedback.

How do you think ethical standards have changed (if at all) since the Principal Investigator of your chosen study filled out his/her own IRB Application?

For this exercise, you will choose one of the psychological experiments listed at the bottom of these instructions.  These are experiments that have already been conducted and published.  Several are “classic” experiments in social psychology of which you should already be aware.  You will read the published article carefully and then you will take the knowledge gleaned from the article to complete the IRB application AS IF you were the Principal Investigator applying for approval to conduct the study.

For some of the questions included on the application, you may need to “stretch” your knowledge a bit.  For example, the published article may say that college students were given extra credit for participation, but may not go into a lot of detail regarding the process used to recruit those students.  In such a situation, you may need to use your imagination to fill in some blanks.

In addition, please remember that the goal here is to put yourself in the principal investigator’s shoes at the time that he/she conducted the experiment.  If the experiment was conducted in the 1970s, for example, remember that the standards for human experimentation were different back then.  Answer the questions as the investigator WOULD have answered them (based upon what you read about the experiment), not as they SHOULD have answered them based upon today’s ethical standards.

All assignments will be submitted through APUS’ plagiarism checker, turnitin.com, so be sure to cite your references in APA formatting as appropriate.

Does your post contribute to continuing the discussion? Are your ideas supported with citations from the learning resources and other scholarly sources?

Please no plagiarism and make sure you are able to access all resource on your own before you bid. Main references come from Capuzzi, D., & Stauffer, M. D. (2012) and/or American Psychological Association (2010). You need to have scholarly support for any claim of fact or recommendation regarding treatment. I have also attached my discussion rubric so you can see how to make full points. Please respond to all 3 of my classmates separately with separate references for each response. You need to have scholarly support for any claim of fact or recommendation like peer-reviewed, professional scholarly journals. I need this completed by 08/03/19 at 12pm.

Expectation:

Responses to peers. Note that this is measured by both the quantity and quality of your posts. Does your post contribute to continuing the discussion? Are your ideas supported with citations from the learning resources and other scholarly sources? Note that citations are expected for both your main post and your response posts. Note also, that, although it is often helpful and important to provide one or two sentence responses thanking somebody or supporting them or commiserating with them, those types of responses do not always further the discussion as much as they check in with the author. Such responses are appropriate and encouraged; however, they should be considered supplemental to more substantive responses, not sufficient by themselves.

Read a your colleagues’ postings. Respond to your colleagues’ postings.

Respond in one or more of the following ways:

· Ask a probing question.

· Share an insight gained from having read your colleague’s posting.

· Offer and support an opinion.

· Validate an idea with your own experience.

· Make a suggestion.

· Expand on your colleague’s posting.

Needs That Clients Have

Clients coming in for vocational counseling services may end up finding that they have mental health or substance abuse counseling needs as well. Mental health problems can also arise due to stress or unhealthy issues happening within the client’s workplace. Clients may end up using substances to cope with the stress and anxiety that they are feeling from their place of work (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012).

Interplay Between the Needs

Needing mental health or substance abuse counseling makes the client’s vocational counseling services more complex. With that being said, all issues must be handled properly in order for the client to find success within their vocational counseling sessions. New techniques have surfaced that contain early interventions for those managing severe mental illness. Medications have also come out that can bring those suffering from mental illness with success in a career. The Americans With Disabilities Act has helped those with mental illness to have more successful career options and reduced barriers when looking for employment. The Stages of Change has proved effective for those wanting vocational services that are suffering from substance abuse. Motivational Interviewing has also helped those with substance abuse issues wanting to work. Overall, the counselor will want to help those with mental health or substance abuse issues find their identity in order to be successful in vocational counseling (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012).

Specific Challenges

Some clients may not understand how their mental health issues are directly impacting their career. On the other hand, some clients may not understand how their career is impacting their mental health issues. Also, some clients may not be privy on the idea of changing their substance abuse behaviors in order to find success in their vocational counseling. As a vocational counselor, one would want to assist their clients to find health, happiness, and fulfillment within a career. Getting the clients to understand that their environment plays a very important part in their health and happiness is key in situations like these. Showing empathy, reflecting on past experiences, role-playing specific scenarios, and supporting the client to find self-efficacy are very important when dealing with vocational clients struggling with mental health or substance abuse issues (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012).

Multiple Needs of Clients with Mental Health/Substance Abuse Concerns Regarding Career Development and Explanation of Interplay Between the Two

There are career related challenges that individuals with mental health issues face. A number of considerations determine the necessity of and opportunity for career counseling with clients in this setting.  Three examples of multiple needs that clients may have regarding mental health issues and career development are: individuals with personality disorders, those who have various forms of depression, and those who exhibit symptoms of anxiety related disorders including social phobia and posttraumatic stress disorder. Because of the prominence of work in the lives of most individuals, those with personality disorders experience many work-related difficulties and problematic career choices. Research has indicated a significant positive relationship between depression and career indecision and between depression and dysfunctional career thought, and a negative relationship between depression and vocational identity. Anxiety produce feelings of apprehension and fearfulness and may be severe enough to limit everyday workplace behaviors. (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012).

Challenges of Counselor Working with Mental Health/Substance Abuse Clients

Counselors are faced with different challenges when it comes to working with clients affected by mental health issues and those challenges are more complex depending on the nature of the mental health issue. With clients who do not possess cognitive clarity, counselors should postpone addressing career concerns until cognitive clarity is attained. Counselors may face diversity issues when working with clients that have mental health issues and should understand their needs in context. A last challenge for counselors working with individuals that are affected by mental health issues is that few counselors are skilled in offering services to all clients with all disorders, and this deems that counselors need to broaden their conceptions of career counseling to consider their clients mental health concerns. (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012).

Addressing Challenges of Working with Mental Health/Substance Abuse Clients

Assisting individuals to gain career competence through implementation of authentic career-related goals is a mental health modality- a primary treatment intervention (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012). Addressing the challenges of working with clients who are affected by mental health issues can be done successfully when the counselor is fluent with various methods and interventions that are proved to be effective with such clients. Whether counselors work in career or mental health settings, they must use assessment methods in making sound decisions so that their interventions fit the needs of their clients (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012). Because the nature of mental health illness may preclude some individuals from reaching the level of career achievement that others may accomplish, it is important to bear in mind that the definition of career includes not only work but all other life roles as well (Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012).

Multiple Needs

Career counseling for individuals with work stress and depression along with low self-esteem. In 1987, a Gallup survey partially sponsored by the National Career Development Association found that more than 30% of those surveyed (N = 1,006) reported that job stress interfered with their ability to perform, along with maintaining personal relationships and also affected their physical health. Stress can be a threat to mental health in the workplace. Feelings of hopelessness and powerlessness, racial anger, disparity in earnings, and rapid change can be stressors (Parmer & Rush, 2003). Although stress itself is neither good nor bad, there are optimal levels of stress. Stress occurs when an imbalance occurs between perceived external demands and the individual’s perceived capability to adequately respond to these demands. The individual may be unable to build an internal and personal resources necessary to counteract stress effectively. Stressors such as role overload, role ambiguity, interpersonal conflict, underemployment, and job loss are major causes of psychological and physiological stress. This can as build into many physical symptoms, including such common conditions as headaches, sleep disorders, anxiety and depression, lowering of self-esteem, substance abuse, and family disruption and abuse (Guindon & Smith, 2002 as cited in Capuzzi & Stauffer, 2012). Physiological problems such as many cardiovascular and digestive disorders are commonly attributed to stress reactions. Accidents, interpersonal conflicts, marital and family discord, apathy, and dissatisfaction are often attributable to stress Many of these symptoms may also be indicative of depression and anxiety.
Challenges

Mental health practitioners and career counselors alike can play a major role in helping their clients manage stress in the workplace. Initially, they can assist their clients in recognizing symptoms of stress. This role is perhaps one of the most important ones counselors can have. Stress is so closely related to other mental health disorders that managing stress may serve as preventative intervention. Stress management techniques can be incorporated into career and life planning programs for people with the disorders (Capuzzi &Stauffer, 2012). The challenge as a mental health professional is to identify the cause of stress, for example is it work, home, drug addition or mental illness. Many clients come into counseling just wanting the counselor to fix the problem. We have to work with them to identify where their stress generated.

Provide a brief introduction to your presentation. Describe what you will be discussing in your presentation.

Create and record a slide presentation with accompanying verbal narration, which comprises a comprehensive synthesis of your research and recommendations concerning ethical and cultural considerations of a case study and a research-based plan to resolve the case.

The ability to organize and effectively present information is essential for securing employment and for effective performance as a professional. Fundamental skills include both appropriate verbal communication and visual design using presentation software to convey content to an intended audience.

Create and record a slide presentation with accompanying verbal narration, which comprises a comprehensive synthesis of your research and recommendations concerning ethical and cultural considerations of a case study and a research-based plan to resolve the case.

While examining your previous assessments and making decisions about the essential information that will be presented, it is recommended that you begin by creating an outline and comparing it to the Comprehensive Case Presentation Scoring Guide to ensure you have specifically taken into account and addressed all of the grading criteria in detail.

Slideshow Instructions

You may use PowerPoint to create this slideshow, or if you wish, you may use Prezi or some other option. However, PowerPoint is best supported by the resources provided. You are responsible for making your presentation work.

For each assessment you have written in the course thus far, create 8–10 slides that provide a high-level explanation or summary. In other words, you should create a minimum of 24 slides, plus a title slide, introduction slide, conclusion slide, and references slide. Use a clear and concise structure.

  • Title slide: On the first slide, enter:
    • A brief title of the presentation. Your name.
    • Course number and title.
    • Capella University.
    • FlexPath instructor’s name.
  • Introduction slides: Provide a brief introduction to your presentation. Describe what you will be discussing in your presentation.
  • Content slides: Provide a high-level overview of the salient points from Assessments 1–3.
  • Conclusion slides: Briefly summarize your presentation. Provide a concise summary about the topics addressed.
  • Reference slides: List all references cited in your presentation.

All slides should include presenter notes (a minimum of three paragraphs) of what you will say for each slide. You may use information directly from your previous assessments when writing presenter notes. However, entries should be edited so that they are written as if you are speaking to an audience or a potential employer, for example. You can utilize the presenter notes when recording the audio piece of the presentation.

Voice-Over Instructions

Your presentation should include a comprehensive audio voice-over presenting essential information for each slide. Elements of good verbal delivery include:

  • Appropriate volume and clear pronunciation.
  • Avoidance of audible fidgeting and distracting interjections.
  • Variety of intonation and pacing and appropriate use of pauses.

Important: Before you record your presentation, it is recommended that you allow ample time to practice your presentation until you are comfortable with these elements.

Note: If you require the use of assistive technology or alternative communication methods to participate in these activities, please contact Disability Services to request accommodations.
